Fashion Week: Dressing for 90-Degree Weather

New York fashion week may not be over quite yet, but we already have a list of our best-dressed street-style stars from the first four days. These fashionable ladies didn’t let the sweltering heat (temperatures reached as high as 91 degrees!) divert their perfectly planned-out ensembles. While some opted for warm-weather outfits in white and off-the-shoulder tops with sandals, others sported lots of layers—a trench coat was even spotted! Take a look at the snaps below.

Fashion Week: Easy Does it

New York fashion week officially started yesterday with spring/summer fashion showings by Halston Heritage, Creatures of the Wind, and Derek Lam 10 Crosby (to name a few) kicking-off the festivities. One of our favorite designers, BCBG Max Azria, was also among the first to debut its ready-to-wear collections. Fresh-faced models with glossy, pin-straight hair strutted down the blush-colored runway in long flowy skirts, nude peep-toe booties or strappy sandals, and low V-neck tops. The aesthetic was a cross between boho-glam and ‘70s chic with a hint of modern sophistication. We’re definitely looking forward to sporting BCBG Max Azria’s spring line (and the sleek straight hair seen on the models) next season.

The Essentials: Leather Outerwear

The year-round leather jacket is both a wardrobe staple and a chic answer to the cold weather ahead. Style this perfect layering piece with a knit sweater and knee-high boots for a sleek and warm ensemble. Shop the complete collection here or our top three below.

Our Crush of the Week

Crushing On: Zoe Saldana

Why?: Hollywood goddess Zoe Saldana first captured our hearts when she played sassy and edgy ballet dancer Eva Rodriguez in the 1999 teen drama, Center Stage. Saldana remains fond of the film, telling Elle magazine in May of this year, “Everyone’s afraid to tell me that [to talk about Center Stage] because they’re afraid they’ll seem weird, but oh, my gosh, I love hearing that! It’s still one of my favorite movies, too.” Since then, Saldana has cemented herself as an A-list actress with roles in films like Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy. She’s also a beauty ambassador for L’Oreal cosmetics, fashion icon, newlywed, and mother-to-be!

What we love about her: Whether she’s walking the red carpet or simply running around town, Zoe Saldana is always dressed to perfection. From bold colorful dresses paired with equally standout accessories to casual ensembles with feminine flats, the sexy actress continuously hits the style mark.

Something you didn’t know: Zoe Saldana and her two sisters, Mariel and Cisley, started a production company named Cinestar. Now that’s some serious girl power.
